Homework WEEK 3
Homework by 5:45PM on Oct 4:

A) READ the handout for the Egg ptg. Buy three (3) eggs and look for objects to include in your first painting. Paint.

B) Look at your assigned photo on the Art-in-NY blog and THINK what makes an image "New York." Do your research and make your own image that represents your idea of New York City on a 11" x 14" canvas or canvas board.

C) Blog about your painting experience. Upload your assigned photo and the 11" x 14" image you created based on it. Discuss the process of coming up with the idea and making your own image. You need to explain the connection between the two images in 100+ words.

Hint 1: Did September 11 change the way we visualize New York? What were big events happened in NYC last few months? Years?

Hint 2: How did other artists express NYC in their artworks at museums that you have seen so far?

D) NEXT TUESDAY 10/4, at 5:45PM, I want the classroom to be CRITIQUE-READY as well as PAINTING-READY. This means that all students come to class early and put up two (2) completed assignments: Egg Painting and NYC Painting on the studio wall before I enter the classroom at 5:45PM. Again, you can borrow push pins and masking tape in the Visual Arts office (ask for Helmut). Make sure you write your name on each of your assignments.

MORE on BB. Check your email before every class.
